1 Year Stats

Maddox had his 1 year check-up today and he did great (except the shots... can you blame him??). He weighed 24 pounds, 6 ounces and was 29 inches long. So he's in the 75th percentile for both. He is very healthy and for that we are so thankful! I had been prolonging weaning him from bottles, but now I guess it is time. She said it's fine that we haven't done that quite yet, but we really need to by 15 months, and absolutely no later than 18 months. I think we are going to replace the bottle with a sippy cup for his morning milk this week, then go from there. I plan to have him totally weaned from the bottle at 15 months. We are also thinking about going ahead and taking away the paci, except for naps and bedtime. He really isn't that attached to it other than those times anyway. We'll see... In other news, he has 4 more teeth coming in on top! We are excited about that and are hoping that might make table food a little easier. She recommended brushing his tongue with a toothbrush, in hopes that it will desensitize his gag reflex a little. I am hoping that works b/c as of now, he pretty much gags on anything remotely healthy that we try to feed him. I know he will get there and I am not worried about it, but it will be nice when he will eat everything we are eating. That's about it for his check-up... *Don't moss another new post below*

Is it bad that I let him finish off the roll??

Birthday Party Fun

On Saturday, we had Maddox's birthday party. It was such a fun time to celebrate with family and to see Maddox enjoy both of his sets of grandparents at the same time! We had a very low-key party and I would not have had it any other way... it was awesome! These pictures are very out of order but it would take me forever to go through and move them all around, so here ya go... Happy 1st birthday sweet Maddox!!!

We go tomorrow for his 1 year check-up so hopefully everything will be right on track! I am very curious to see how much he weighs b/c I am thinking he's at least 25 pounds. I am dreading the shots, but have several questions about table food and things like that that I can't wait to get answered. Check back tomorrow for his 1 year stats!

Ready

In just a few short months, Daniel will be totally done with school. To say he has worked hard is such an understatement. If I can brag for just a minute, I have to admit that I have one smart husband. He is such a committed, hard working man and one of the areas that it really shows is in his school work. His GPA is practically flawless, and he goes above and beyond the call of duty to give his best. So, to celebrate him being done with school, we are going to have some serious R&R time. He decided that he wanted to take a trip, just the two of us, to somewhere very relaxing. We wanted his parents to get to keep Maddox for a few days since they don't get to see him as often, so our plan is to meet them somewhere along the way, and we will be going here...

Tybee Island, Ga

I have never been to the beach on the east coast and Daniel thought it would be a really fun adventure, so needless to say... I AM READY!!!

What a Year!

It's hard to believe a whole year has passed since we experienced the birth of our sweet Maddox Jeffrey...

This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding years of my life and I would not have it any other way. I have grown so much in this last year and have gone from thinking, "What am I doing?" to thinking, "Look what I am doing!" Don't get me wrong, I still have days where I question myself, but not nearly as much as I did in the beginning. Being a parent is the hardest job on the planet and I don't think people realize how much it changes you until you have one of your own. I know I didn't.

Happy 1st birthday to the sweetest, most precious blessing in our world! We love you Maddox!

Celebration and Frustration

Celebration: No more of this...We have transitioned Maddox to whole milk so that means no more formula for us! It's actually kinda bittersweet. The bitter part is that I feel like he's not really a baby anymore. But the sweet part is that we don't have to pay for formula anymore. That part is very, very exciting!

Frustration:

Being sick on my birthday! I have had a terrible stomach bug this weekend and I thought I was getting better, but not so much. I tried getting up to go to work today, but it didn't happen. I hope this gets better soon b/c being sick on my birthday is one thing, but being sick on Maddox's birthday is another. If this is not gone by Wednesday I am going to be one unhappy camper.

Best Buds

Maddox had a fun outdoor playdate today with his best buddy Cooper. They are only 3 weeks apart and are bound to be the best of friends! They really don't have a choice since his momma and I are such great pals too! It was so nice to be outside today and to get to enjoy the beautiful weather!! I love Spring!

Introducing....

Owen Kathleen Mundie!!! 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.

We made it to Nashville about 2 hours after Owen Kate was born and got to see her for a little while. To say she is the sweetest little girl is such an understatement! Carrie was such a trooper and endured a 30 hour labor. She is a champ!! Congratulations Justin and Carrie! We love you guys!!

Morning Playtime

I managed to snag a few pictures of Maddox this morning while we were playing in his room...

Searching for new things to get into:

Finally warming up to his penguin that he has been afraid of for so long...

Playing in the tunnel...

Coming through...

Maddox now has both of his bottom two front teeth, but will not allow me to take a picture of them. I thought he never was gonna get those teeth! He is quite the little ham, being very silly and doing crazy things every day. We definitely have our hands full with this little guy!

On another note, Daniel's brother and sister-in-law are very anxiously waiting for the arrival of their sweet little girl, Owen Kate. She was due on the on the 3rd, and I know they are so ready to meet her! We are traveling to Nashville this weekend in hopes that she will have made her grand entrance, so I am hoping we will have news about that soon. Every time my phone rings I think to myself, "this could be the call", but so far, no such luck. :( Hang in there, Carrie. There WILL be an end to all of this waiting soon!!

Easter Project

I decided that I wanted to try and make Maddox a jon jon for Easter this year. I was hesitant to try it b/c I thought it would be very hard and I have not done much at all with patterns. But yesterday I went ahead and got the pattern and decided to give it a try. It was not NEARLY as hard as I thought it would be and really didn't take that long considering my lack of experience with this kind of thing. I have never sewn buttons but my newer machine made it almost effortless. I wanted to put an applique on it, but I should have done it before I sewed it all the way together, so for this one, I may have to take it somewhere... and maybe put his initials on it?? I haven't decided yet, but I do know that I am proud of my first attempt!! I think I am gonna get some more fabric and make him several more.

A Fast Learner

Maddox has a new trick that he thinks will make everything all better. He has gotten into a bad habit of only wanting to play with things that he knows he isn't allowed to play with. Examples: one of our cabinets that we can't lock, the computer router, the entertainment center glass door, just to name a few. We are trying to teach him what the word "No" means, and while I definitely think he knows what it means, he doesn't seem to think he should heed the warning. As soon as we say it to him, he gets this look on his face like "I better do this real quick before they get to me". And as soon as we pick him up to distract him with something else, he immediately gives us the biggest kiss ever, hoping that will make it all better. He knows his momma loves his kisses and can't turn them down... and he's already starting to use it to his advantage!
