Showers for Miller

I have been extremely blessed to have made some awesome friends since moving to Tallahassee two years ago.  It has made the transition so much easier and for that I am so thankful!  One of the very first friends I made here was my friend Katie.  We met at Chick-fil-A of all places (not surprising, I know!) and we immediately became friends.  My kids love her to pieces, too, and in fact, the last time Katie kept Maclain for me Maclain decided she didn't want to come back home with me and pitched a fit. :)  A couple of weekends ago Katie threw me a shower for Miller.  I invited several of my mommy friends and we all met for lunch at Chili's. We had a great time talking, eating and catching up.  It was a ton of fun!  I did not take many pictures, but it truly was a great and memorable shower!

Then this past Saturday, my friend Rebecca hosted a shower at her house for baby Miller.  My mom was able to be in town for this one so it was extra special.  Rebecca has been another God-send when it comes to friendship.  She is one of my very best friends here and it meant so much to me that my sweet hostesses (Rebecca, Katie C., Tracy, and Gloria) went to so much trouble to make sure that Miller will not do without once he/she gets here very soon!

I loved the wreath!!
Yummy food and adorable diaper cake
I love the banner that Katie made :)

Love my momma!!
Miller sure is one lucky baby to already be loved by so many sweet people here in Tallahassee.  We are truly blessed by our friendships here!

36 Weeks

Sunday was a big milestone for this pregnancy... 36 weeks!  I now feel like we are nearing the end and I am not quite sure how I feel about it. :)  In some ways I am so ready, and in others I feel like I just want time to stand still.  Either way, this baby is coming at some point in the near future so we might as well be ready, right??

I am still feeling pretty good overall.  I am having more and more trouble sleeping and staying asleep, though.  My heartburn is pretty bad but as long as I remember to take medicine before bed I do ok.  I have some really strange ear pain in my left ear that wakes me up often, and the only thing that makes it go away is to sit up, so I end up in the recliner probably 3 or more nights a week.  I am trying to keep myself busy during naptime and not let myself nap so that I don't have as much trouble sleeping at night.  During the day I feel pretty good, though, so I am thankful for that!!

My appointment went well yesterday.  I have made some progress toward labor but am trying not to think too much about it.  I am still adamant about not being induced this time unless I go a good bit past my due date.  My labor with Maddox was so much less painful, which I attribute to the fact that I never had any Pitocin with him and went into labor on my own.  Maclain's labor was fast but really painful since I was induced.  The doctor went ahead and scheduled the rest of my appointments through 40 weeks, so that made it even more real!

There is an end in sight!! :)

Our Week

It's been a whirlwind of a week so far and I feel like all we have done is go back and forth to different appointments.  I have relied heavily on friends that have been so willing to help out with my kids while I went to a couple of these appointments alone.  On Wednesday, Tracy watched Maclain for me while Maddox was at preschool and I went to my 36 week checkup.  She and Sawyer had the best time playing and Maclain thoroughly enjoyed her time at their house!

Yesterday afternoon Charlie was able to come hang out for little bit while his mommy had an appointment.  Both kids started crying when it was time for him to go!

And this morning my friend Katie came over with a new baby that she is keeping to stay with mine while I had to go back to the dentist.  To say Maddox and Maclain were happy to see this sweet baby is an understatement.  I am a little worried that they are never going to leave Miller alone when he/she gets here!

And just one more picture... Maclain decided it was too bright in the car on the way to church last night and asked for some sunglasses.  What a mess she is!

Maddox's First Dentist Appointment

I took Maddox in for his first dentist appointment this morning. I started telling him about it a few days in advance so he would be prepared, but at the same time didn't talk it up too much because I didn't want to make it seem like a big deal.  I told him he would get to see me get my teeth cleaned first and he seemed ok with it.  I scheduled our appointments back to back and he sat on my lap while they examined my teeth.  The whole time he was giggling saying everything they were doing was silly and that he was ready for his turn.  He was such a big boy and did a fabulous job when it came time for him.  He had a million questions throughout the process and I was so proud of him!!

He was such a trooper! :)

Bedtime Chart

We recently started a bedtime chart with Maddox because he had gotten in a really bad habit of calling for us over and over after we put him to bed each night.  The reasons varied: needing to potty, being hungry, being scared, etc...  He responds very well when he knows there is a reward in sight so I decided to make a sticker chart with rewards for him to work towards.  He gets to put a sticker on his chart each morning if he doesn't call for us at all the night before.  After the first row of stickers is filled, the treat is ice cream with Daddy, followed by donuts with Mommy after the second row is filled.  The third reward is a trip to Books A Million where he gets to pick out a new toy, and the finale is a trip to Chuck E. Cheese.  He has been asking to go to there for several weeks, now, and I know he will be so excited once he fills the final row!

It's nothing fancy, but it works!

Out of the 9 nights that we have been doing this system, he has only missed 2 stickers.  We are really proud of how he is doing and it is working really well for him!  On Saturday, Daddy took him for his first reward: ice cream at Sweet Frog :)

Ready to go get his treat!
I will admit, I am looking forward to the next one!  This pregnant momma is craving some donuts! :)
