Hawaii: Days 1 and 2

Back in January when Daniel's parents came to visit, they mentioned that they would like to take us and Daniel's two brothers and their wives on a trip to Maui.  The ball got rolling pretty quickly and after looking at everyone's calendars the only week that was going to work for everyone was the first week of June.  So the dates got set in stone pretty quickly and all we had to do was make sure my parents could keep the kids while we were gone.  Of course they said they would love to.  In the beginning it felt like June would never get here, but the next thing we knew, it was time to go!

Day 1 (Saturday) was filled completely with travel.  Daniel and I flew from Tallahassee to Miami, then Miami to Los Angeles.  We met up with the rest of the crew there in LA and all flew together to Maui.  By the time we made it off the plane and to the house where we were staying, we had been awake for a full 24 hours!  We were exhausted, but it ended up working out best because it was just before midnight Maui time (a 6 hour difference from Tallahassee) and we went straight to bed.

We were TIRED, but all smiles and glad we made it safely!

We were all up by about 5:00am on Sunday morning (due to the time change) and Don and Lynn made a quick grocery store run to get stuff to make breakfast.  We enjoyed a nice, big breakfast before more of us joined Lynn for a trip back to the store to buy the rest of the food for the week.  We ended up splitting up who cooked each night and it worked out really well.  Each couple got to choose the menu and shop for what we needed.  It was a great way to divide out the responsibility and made us all feel like we were contributing something.

Still pretty tired, but getting geared up for our first full day

The next thing on the agenda for Sunday was snorkeling.  I was super excited about this because it was one of my very favorite things from our honeymoon.  We got to the harbor about 11:30 and spent the afternoon snorkeling in coral gardens.  It was absolutely beautiful and we saw tons of fish.  The water was super clear and perfect!

I forgot to mention how windy it was!

The views from the boat were incredible:

After snorkeling, we drove back to the house where Brandon and Lillie grilled out for us that night.  Everything tasted great and we ended up having a very successful first couple of days, despite the long travel and trying to adjust to the time change!
