Pretty in Blue

My mom was in town for a couple of days this last week to help me out some and she brought this beautiful dress with her for Maclain...
And I love her sweet baby toes!  This morning at church they called all of the babies who have been born in the last few months up to the front and they gave her her very first Bible... and it's pink :)

Bible Class

Maclain went to her Wednesday night Bible class for the first time last night.  She had been going into class with us, but I figured we should give it a try last night and she did great!  Obviously she is not sitting up yet, so the teacher stuffed blankets around her in her "chair" to help support her.  It felt so nice for me and Daniel to be able to go to our class by ourselves!  Maybe I am biased... but I think she's the cutest thing!

Transition Time

I am working on making the trainsition from Maclain napping in her swing to napping in her crib.  I decided to give it a go this morning just to see how she did.  We waited longer (6 months old) with Maddox and I felt like it was harder than it probably would have been if we had done it several months earlier.  He would cry and cry for what seemed like forever, and my little heart just could not take it.
Fast forward to child #2 and now I know better. :)  I have felt like Maclain has been too young to cry for any real length of time so I have been doing what works for us... letting her nap in her swing.  From the beginning, she has been pretty laid back and does not cry all that often so I have felt like "sleep training" would be easier with her.  We are on nap #2 for the day and both have been in her crib.  She cried for less than 10 minutes this morning and about 25 minutes this afternoon.  Her morning nap was not as long as it is in her swing, but I feel like they will get longer as she gets more used to it.  We were going through batteries like crazy in that swing!

Also this morning, I took the kids to check out a Mother's Morning Out program that is at a church in our neighborhood.  Maddox was not able to start preschool in January like we had planned b/c there were not enough kids signed up to start a new class. :(  So we are waiting until Fall.  I still need some time, though, during the week to get a few things done sans the toddler.  You have to call a day ahead to reserve a spot and it's only from 9:00-12:00.  We can get there literally in 1 minute so I will not waste any "me time" with the drive.  He is going for the first time Wednesday morning so I hope that will go well.  They have a music class and will do several other "academic" things that he is going to love.  He actually cried this morning when we had to leave... he wanted to stay and play.  He probably does not know, yet, that Mommy will not be staying.  I hope it all goes well!

Better Late Than Never

I am embarrassed to admit that after over 3 years of marriage, Daniel and I had not one single print from our wedding.  We bought the rights to the pictures but for some reason never made it a priority to get actual prints.  We have our wedding book and have loved that, but let's face it, it stays on a shelf.  So we had some money from our anniversary that we decided we were going to spend on getting prints and frames, and guess what we did today?!?  Yes, we FINALLY had pictures printed and made a photo collage in our stairwell... it was the perfect space for it and I love how it turned out...

I got the letter "M" from Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon (making it less than $7) and I think it made a great addition to the pictures.  I am so glad that we finally took the time to do this!  I smile every time I go up and down the stairs now. :)

Weekend

Despite the fact that Maddox was not totally up to par this past weekend, we managed to proceed with our plans and make the trip home.  Daniel was able to go with us this time so that made it even better.  We got to Opelika Friday night and visited for a little while before heading to bed.  Then Saturday, I helped with my friend Jamie's baby shower... she is due with Bennett on March 26th (which just happens to be Maddox's original due date).  I am so glad I got to be there with her to celebrate.  We sure do miss having her and Gorham as neighbors!!

Me and Lydia (and baby Levi)
The shower was wonderful and as always, it is so much fun to get together with my friends from back home!  I miss them so much!  After the shower, I headed back to my parents' house and we got ready to go to the circus!  I was so excited to take Maddox for the first time and he really seemed to enjoy it...
Not the best family picture... and maybe only the 2nd one we've ever taken since Maclain was born.  Shame on us!
Maddox and Pop
Maclain slept through the entire circus... despite how LOUD it was!
Loving the entertainment :)
Sunday Daniel had to head back to Tallahassee to be at work Monday morning, but Maddox, Maclain and I decided to stay over until Tuesday morning.  On Monday, we took Maddox down to the train depot to check out the caboose and to let him throw rocks into the water (new favorite activity).

We had a great weekend and my parents drove us back home Tuesday afternoon and they stayed over until Wednesday afternoon.  It's always so much fun to hang out with family! Looking forward to next time (when I get to meet 2 precious babies!) :)

*Don't miss another new post below!*

3 Months Old

Our precious little Maclain is 3 months old now... and she seems to be getting so BIG!  I am a little late on this post, but here is what she is up to at this age:

-Still wearing a size 1 diaper and is in 3 month clothes
-Is pretty laid back, although she does not always love riding in her car seat
-She is cooing a lot and is the easiest thing to get a smile out of
-Now goes to bed at 8:30 and eats around 2:00 during the night but goes right back to sleep
-Pretty much bald as can be... loving those headbands right now :)
-Still only taking 4 ounces at a time and eats about every 3.5-4 hours
-She rolled over twice about a week ago but has not done it since then
-Still naps in her swing, but I plan to work on moving her to her crib for naps at 4 months
-Goes to sleep on her own really well at night... and still sleeps fully swaddled in her woombie (the best invention ever!)
-When she gets upset, she is calmed very easily... pretty much all you have to do is pick her up to calm her down, unless she is hungry
-Really seems to enjoy being outside
-Loves to snuggle

These are the highlights but there are probably other things I am missing.  I can not believe in only 1 more month she will be able to start rice cereal... then not too long after that solid foods!  Our baby is getting so big! :)
