10 Months Old

A few things at 10 months old:

-can turn the lights on and off while standing in his crib... he did this for the first time this morning
-loves to clap, play peek-a-boo, give slobbery kisses, give hugs, and will now throw both arms up in the air when we say "touchdown auburn"
-willingly ate table food yesterday at lunch... a few bites of a roll from Logan's. This is progress!
-gives Daniel a hug and kiss without being prompted when he finishes putting on his pj's at night and hands him over to me for his bottle. Daniel started teaching him this a while back and one day he did it all on his own while Daniel was talking to me and not expecting it... it's so sweet!

In just a couple months we will be celebrating 1 whole year with our sweet little boy! What a year it's been. We are going to have a very small, family party and I can't wait! I am going to attempt to make his cake, although I have never attempted this kind of thing before. I found a recipe that looks fairly simple so we will see. I will definitely have to do a practice round before the real deal! More on that later...

First Meeting

Yesterday I got to go to Birmingham to see one of my best friend's new baby. She had sweet little Grant on Friday and mom went with me to visit them yesterday. It seems like just yesterday that her other son, Jacob, was born. Now he is 2 1/2 and loves his new baby brother! I only got one picture of us with our boys while we were there... it's not easy making a 10 month old and 2 1/2 year old sit still... or look at the camera at the same time! I love you, Crystal, and can't wait to see y'all again!

Recovering

I had very high hopes for a fabulous weekend. We decided at the last minute to go to Nashville for the weekend so that I could be at my sister-in-law's baby shower. I was so excited that it worked out for us to go. But things turned sour rather quickly.

Friday morning right after I fed Maddox, he threw up EVERYWHERE. I thought maybe he had just gotten choked and didn't think too much of it, since he has been a spitter-upper since day 1. He ate his rice cereal that morning and then ate his baby food at lunch. We got on the road about 12:30. With only about an hour left in our drive up, Maddox threw up again. This time worse. After a call to our pediatrician and explaining the day's events to her (and after realizing that he had not had a wet diaper all day) we were encouraged to take him to the Vanderbilt walk-in clinic. They told us to lay off the formula for a day or so and try to get him to drink pedialyte. Well, we knew this would not go well. He HATES anything different from his normal diet. But we were able to get a little of it in his system and thankfully, he slept great Friday night and seemed to be better the next morning.

Then came the bug for me. I started feeling lousy Saturday afternoon right after the baby shower. It started with just an upset stomach, and then got worse from there. (I will spare you the details!) My wonderful husband and great in-laws allowed me to seclude myself and go off mommy duty for the night. I woke up this morning feeling a little better, but still not 100%. We talked and decided that we should probably head on home just in case Daniel was going to get it. Nobody wants to be traveling with a stomach bug. So we packed up and got on the road about 9:15 this morning. Daniel drove and Maddox and I quickly fell asleep.

About an hour into our trip I woke up and asked Daniel how he was feeling. You see where this is going. Yes, he was starting to feel bad, too!! How terrible can this get?? We switched drivers in Birmingham when we stopped to feed Maddox and I was SO READY to be home!! Thankfully we made it back quickly and my sweet mom volunteered to come get Maddox for the rest of the afternoon so we could get some rest. This is not at all how I envisioned our weekend going.

So here we are, with me recovering and Daniel living the dreaded stomach bug. :( I hope this goes away fast!!

Here is the one picture I got from the shower... I was so glad I was able to be there, despite everything else! Carrie is going to be such a great mommy and there are so many people that are going to love/support sweet little Owen Kate. We can't wait until she is here!!!

Like Mother, Like Son

I think he has seen his momma do this a time or two... maybe??

Naked Boy

Our poor little guy has had a TERRIBLE yeast rash for the past several days and I am trying everything to get it to go away. Our doctor called in some prescription ointment Thursday night and we have been putting that on it, but it is not going away as quickly as I thought it would. I got to reading a little bit about it and one suggestion said to let them go naked for a little while. That would be all fine and good except that not only has he had a bad rash, but diarrhea too :(
So, after his bath tonight we decided to give it a go for a few minutes. What a sweet little boy...

For Sale

...almost! We are oh so close to putting our house up for sale and I am so excited/nervous all at the same time! We have bought the sign and Daniel has made the flyer to attach with it. The only thing we are waiting on is the tube thingy that he ordered from Ebay to put the flyers in. As soon as it comes in next week, it will be official! We have decided to go ahead and try to sell it on our own for a couple of months and if we have no luck, then we will list it with an agent. I have so may mixed emotions about selling our house, though.
First of all, this is the house I bought right before I graduated from college. I lived in it by myself until Daniel and I got married, it's the first house we lived in together, and it's the first house we brought Maddox home to. There have been so many memories made in this house. While I absolutely love our little house, I am looking forward to new adventures. I love the "looking process". I have been doing this for months now, but it is very hard to look for a house when you have no idea what town you will be living in. So I have looked in several of the different places we have talked about moving to. I get so excited about us finding the right house for us and I can't wait to know where that will be.
Until then, I am going to try and keep our current house clean and clutter-free (virtually impossible with a baby) in hopes that someone will think our house is the perfect one for them. Maybe I will have something to report in the next few months!

Handy Hubby

I love the fact that Daniel loves doing little projects around the house. I have had NOWHERE to store all of my sewing stuff and since the stuff seems to be growing, the problem was getting worse. If you have ever been in our house, you know that we have no storage space. At. All. So, Daniel decided to build a little "bookcase" for me to put everything in. Well, not everything... but at least it would get some things off of the floor. He had so much fun building it, and it turned out great. We (he) painted it and I made a curtain for it so that you can't see what's being stored. Too bad it's all on Maddox's level and he certainly has noticed it (understatement). Oh well. I love it anyway... even if we have to take everything off the shelves and store his toys in it so he can get in it.
I have not hemmed the curtain yet. It's just tucked under right now, so that's next on my list of things to do.
