Park Days

The weather is warming up down here which has given us the opportunity to spend some time at the park lately.  We have even been known to go to the park twice some days... once in the morning, then again after naps.  That's one of the benefits of living right down the street from a nice park!

Clearly my kids' favorite park activity is swinging...

Maddox and his friends Jack and Bennett had a great time the other day playing in the woods and moving very large sticks!

And while Tom Brown is our favorite park in town, it also leaves us the most dirty...

Miller enjoys park trips, too, and especially loves hanging out in the Bjorn.  Sometimes she will sneak in a nap...

We are loving the warmer weather and play outside in our yard a good bit too!  Now that Miller is getting bigger she can do a lot more and feels more a part of what we are doing.
Isn't she the cutest?? :)
Here's to Spring and pretty days!

Back Home

This past weekend we all headed home to Opelika.  It was a very fun, packed weekend and I am so glad Daniel was able to come with us this time!  It was a very quick trip since we didn't get there until late Friday night, so we made the most of each day.

Daniel and my dad went fishing on Saturday morning while Mom and I hung out with the kids at home.  I was giving a baby shower for my friend Jamie that day, so that's what I was up to around lunch time.  I can't believe she is due in 2 weeks!

April and me
After the shower the kids went down for naps and Mom and I headed out to do a little shopping.  On Saturday night Daniel and I had a date night... we went to Niffer's on the Tracks and it was so yummy!

After church on Sunday we ate lunch at my grandmother's house before loading up and heading back to Tallahassee.  We packed a lot of fun into our weekend and I am so glad we were able to go!
What a fun trip!!

A Weekend of Last Firsts

Miller had a big weekend and I feel like I need to document several of her firsts that have occurred.

#1: Sleeping unswaddled
This one was hard for me.  Since around 2 weeks old we have been laying Miller down awake and swaddled.  She has been really good about putting herself to sleep, and for that we have been really thankful!  I was very afraid that once we took away the swaddle she would have a hard time falling asleep on her own.  She started rolling both ways over the last week or so, so we knew it was time.  Last night was her first night without it and she pretty much slept like normal.  She cried for a little while before drifting off, but not for long.  We put up the mobile and she did enjoy looking at it for a little while.  She napped well unswaddled today, and went down even easier tonight.  Thank the Lord!

#2: First Sunday in her big girl seat in Bible class
She has stayed in her Bible class before today, but since she is getting much better about her head control, I decided to put her in the seat with her blanket stuffed in there for support.  I was told she did great and really enjoyed the lesson. ;)

#3: First time in the swing at the park
Miller LOVED swinging!   She would just laugh and laugh at me as I was swinging her and talking to her.  This will make our park trips much easier since I won't have to carry her around everywhere!

And this last one didn't happen over the weekend, but in the last couple of weeks.  Miller loves the exersaucer:
I can't get over how big she seems now!

Miller - 4 Months

Well, the time keeps passing us by and I can't believe Miller has hit the 4 month mark!

Her 4 month stats:
Weight - 14 pounds, 12 ounces
Height - 23.5 inches
Head - 42 cm

At her checkup, the doctor asked if she was sleeping through the night yet and I told her that she is about half the time.  She said that based on her weight, Miller should be able to go 10-12 hours at night without eating.  I had been contemplating sleep training during the night when she was waking up to eat between 1-4, but was not sure if she was ready or not.  After the doctor told me it was fine, we knew it was the right thing to do.  Since Tuesday night, she has gone from about 8:00 at night to 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning before eating.  The first night she cried some, but we went in a couple of times to put her paci back in and that worked for her.  The last 2 nights she has slept through the night on her own.  Thank goodness... nothing beats a good night's sleep!  So thankful we are past the middle of the night feedings!

Some things I want to remember:
-Sleeps through the night now... yay!
-Wears some 3-6 month clothes, but mostly 6 month and a few 6-9 month
-Started rice cereal today and seems to like it so far
-Rolls from belly to back and is close to rolling from back to belly... not ready for that one since she still sleeps swaddled
-Coos and laughs, and is starting to reach for things that are in front of her
-She is so content and happy, and she still only fusses if she is hungry, sleepy, or riding in the car
-She smiles all the time and especially loves being talked to
-Loves being carried in the moby, facing outward
-Likes sitting up in the Bumbo
-Her favorite thing to do right now is play on her playmat... she loves looking up at all the animals hanging from it
-She takes 2 naps a day, sometimes 3
-Loves bathtime

Here are few recent pictures of our sweet girl:

Enjoying the sushine!
She fell asleep on Daddy right before bedtime last night :)
I love this onesie Mrs. Janay made her! :)

We are so blessed to have this sweet, healthy baby girl!!

Snow in Opelika

Last week the kids and I packed up and headed north to spend the week.  Daniel had to be out of town for work the first part of the week and spent the rest of the week after work doing some renovations in our kitchen, so we took advantage of the time and hung out in Opelika Monday through Sunday.  The forecast was showing snow in the middle of the week, and sure enough it happened!  Maddox and Maclain didn't love being so cold and getting their hands wet, but we were able to get out in it some.  I was so glad the timing worked out and the kids got to experience it!

The view out of my parents' front door

By Sunday the weather was in the 70's and we were able to play outside without freezing to death!

He did not ride alone, and we went slowly ;)

Sweet cousins!

Maddox and Thomas

Maclain had a little fun with the camera and showed me her many faces...  this girl is too much sometimes! ;)

And I promise Miller came with us... she didn't spend much time outside b/c of the cold, but was her usual sweet, happy self in the warmth of the indoors!

It was a great week to go back home, and one that we will certainly not forget!
