5 Months Old

Can't believe this sweet girl will be half a year old next month...

(When Crystal was here a few weekends ago, she took this picture and I am in LOVE!  I can't wait to share the rest!)

Here are some things about our little Maclain at 5 months:
-Starting to grab toys and put them straight into her mouth
-Smiles at everyone (especially her brother)
-Has tried rice cereal (not a fan), applesauce, and squash... she likes the applesauce and squash
-Started rolling from her back to her belly about 4 days ago
-Sleeps without her woombie or sleep positioner for both naptime and bedtime
-Takes 2 good naps during the day and sometimes gets in a 3rd catnap in the evening
-She is getting very squirmy and less cuddly
-We dropped her night-time feeding a few nights ago and she is doing well... she is still waking up about 2:00 am but we just put her paci back in and she goes back to sleep.
-Takes four 5-6 ounce bottles a day now.
-Size 2 diaper
-Wears 3-6 month or 6 month clothes
-HATES riding in the car for longer than about 10 minutes... this is hard!!
-"Talks" a lot

We are beyond blessed to have this sweet girl! :)

Play Date

This morning we went over to Renee's house and let the kiddos play together for a while. As always, everyone had a fabulous time.  Maclain had her first ride in a swing and seemed to love it.  She smiled the whole time!

Milestone

This may not seem like a big deal to most of you, but to me it's huge...

Maclain has been sleeping in her woombie and her sleep positioner since she was about a month old.  Since yesterday, she has been consistently rolling form her back to her belly.  Since she can now roll both ways, I knew it was time to get rid of both...

She has made the adjustment very well.  Only 20 min. of crying for her morning nap, and then about 5 this afternoon.  She obviously prefers her belly now and I am hoping she may decide to start sleeping through the night SOON! Maybe she was waking up since she couldn't move all around like she wanted to.  We'll see... :)

More Travels

We have been on the road a lot lately and this past weekend was no exception.  The kids and I left Thursday morning to go back home.  I helped with one of my BFF's (Lydia) shower.  She is due June 1st with her 2nd baby boy, Levi.  We can't wait to meet him!

On Friday, we went to Callaway Gardens with my mom and grandmother.  It was a crazy trip to say the least.  We wanted to take Maddox to the Butterfly Center and I have to admit, I was disappointed.  It did not help at all that he didn't want to sit in the stroller... he wanted only my mom to hold him... not to mention that it was 185 degrees inside the building, and my mom was also pushing my grandmother in a wheel chair.  The doors in that place are not very stroller friendly, either!  It was way more stressful than it was worth, but Maddox did seem to enjoy seeing the butterflies.  We were not there for very long when we decided to head to the playground.  The signs were horrible, and we ended up lost.  When we finally figured out where to go, the gate we needed to go through was locked shut.  In the meantime, both Maddox and Maclain had fallen asleep... Needless to say, we called it a day and headed home.

Sleepy Girl! :)

We spent some time just hanging out at my parents' house doing all of Maddox's favorite things.  He is obsessed with feeding apples to the horses across the street so we did just that...

Getting out the apples
Maddox decided he wanted Pop to do it...

Sweet, sweet girl!
On Friday night me and a couple other girls threw a spa night shower for Lydia.  It was a blast... we all wore pajamas and ate dessert.  We had manicure and pedicure stations set up, and we even had a masseuse come by from Aromatherapy and give massages.  It was such a fun night celebrating with Lydia!

Hostesses and Guest of Honor :)
Lots of candles to set the mood
Dessert!
On Saturday we got to attend Cooper's 2nd birthday party... Maddox was glad he got to go and wanted to help Cooper open all of his presents!

We had a great weekend, but it will be A WHILE before I travel again with both kiddos alone.  I just don't think my nerves can handle it again for a long time! :)

Bubble

I made this seersucker bubble for Maclain the other day and I am really loving how it turned out... the only thing I wish I had done differently was move the monogram up a little higher (you can't see it all that well in the picture).  It was my first time sewing with ric rac and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be... much easier than piping!  I want to make Maddox some seersucker pants to match but we will see!  We have a busy month ahead!

Easter 2012

We stayed in Tallahassee for Easter this year b/c we have lots of traveling on the horizon.  It was a nice, low-key weekend.  On Saturday we took Maddox to an Easter egg hunt with lots of church friends.  It was a lot of fun and he was a lot more into hunting the eggs than he was last year...

Smelling the rocks
The eggs he found :)
Checking out his candy
Pretty sure this is only the 2nd or 3rd family pic we have taken since Maclain was born!
On Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny arrived and we headed to church...

We finished up the afternoon playing with the new paint set Maddox got for Easter.  It was a great day and I am so thankful for our family!

Look Who's Getting Big

"This is scary!"
We put Maclain in her jumper for the first time tonight and she seemed to enjoy it.  It is nice to have another thing for her to "do".  This will especially come in handy when Mommy is making dinner each night! :)

Special Visit

My lifelong friend Crystal and her sweet husband Wayne came to visit and meet Maclain today.  They had not had a chance to meet her yet since we moved to Florida and they live in Birmingham.  They were in Florida for the weekend visiting her parents, so they drove over to our house to hang out for a little while.  It meant soooo much to me that they made this special trip to see me... even though they were already in FL, it still took 3 hours one way to get here!  What a true friend!  We enjoyed catching up, going to lunch, and just hanging out.  She even snapped a few pictures of Maclain for me while she was here and I can't wait to see those!!  Thank you so much, Crystal (and Wayne), for visiting us! :)

4 Months Old (A Little Late)

I am a tad late in posting this, but for memory's sake I need to do it now before I forget all the details of our sweet Maclain at 4 months.  4 months, y'all!!  It seriously seems like yesterday that she was so tiny...
2 weeks old!
4 months old... already can't still still :)

At Maclain's 4 month appointment here were her stats:
-Weight: 13 pounds, 10 ounces (45%)
-Height: 23 3/4 inches (25%)
-Head: 40.7 cm (50%)

Some things I want to remember:
-Still a very laid-back baby
-Does not love riding in the car
-We sleep trained her at just over 3 months... now she naps in her crib and naps much better/longer
-She rolls consistently from stomach to back
-"Talks" all the time... I can't imagine anyone talking more than Maddox does, but she might give him a run for his money :)
-Loves her swing, playmat and bouncer
-Loves to be talked to and smiles/laughs a lot
-In size 2 diaper and some 6 month clothes
-Keeps her fingers in her mouth pretty much all the time
-Goes to bed at 8:30ish and will sleep until about 4:00, take a bottle, and then goes back to sleep until 7:30 or 8:00.
-She does not like anyone rough-housing with Maddox.  When Daniel and Maddox get rowdy in the evenings, she cries and cries... it breaks her heart!
-She ADORES Maddox and watches everything he does... and Maddox is starting to pay her more attention so that's good!

We love our sweet girl to pieces!

Sneak Peak

So I have had in mind what I want to do with Maddox's room for a while now, but it's just taking a long time to complete!  We are doing things in stages so we don't totally blow our budget each month.  I am the type that when I get something on my mind, it want to do it right then, but I am learning to be more patient in an effort to not make us go totally broke in one month!  One month I ordered the fabric, the next month I made the bedding (minus the pillowcase... long story, but I still have to make it), and last month I ordered prints to hang on the walls.  The prints came in today.  Prints, by themselves, are not really that expensive.  It is the framing that kills me!  But I happened to find a GREAT deal at Wal-Mart today (not usually where I get my frames).  Here is a tad bit of progress...

Sorry for the terrible glare... they look much better in person!
Thank you, Etsy! :)
The 5 smaller frames were on sale for $3 each and the 2 larger ones were only $5 each so I could not resist.  I am hoping to get them on the wall tonight after Daniel gets home from work.. stay tuned for a more complete renovation post later. :)
